Orpheus Down Under
Adapted from Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach Sat 27 March at 7.30pm How will Eurydice escape the suburbs and her intolerable
husband, Orpheus? Offenbach's delightfully disrespectful tale loses none of its pith and verve in this uproarious updating from Unexpected Opera, last seen at the New Theatre Royal with The Barber of Savile Row. A couple on the verge of divorce become entangled with the Gods and Goddesses of Greek Mythology, who are themselves embroiled in international competition as 'Team Olympus.' Full of charming songs and witty dialogue, it is performed by a cast of 12 and live musicians. Enjoy a global romp with the opera that introduced the world to the can-can! Ticket Information
